Rural Working Group - Terms of Reference

Objectives

  • To deliver a vision for rural Peterborough over the next 15 years

  • To identify the issues facing rural Peterborough

  • Identify those short, medium & long term goals which would significantly enhance life in rural Peterborough

  • To consider how rural Peterborough can add significant value to the growth of urban Peterborough

  • To identify policies for incorporation within future local development plans

Scope

  • The rural wards and parishes of Peterborough

  • The interaction between the rural urban boundary

  • All aspects of rural life may be considered

  • To consider the existing and changing demographics of the area

Time & Reporting

  • The working party shall be constituted for an initial period of 6 months from the meeting approving the Terms of Reference

  • The initial period may be extended at the discretion of the GPP executive board,

  • An initial report will be delivered to the GPP board within 6 months

  • An interim/final? Report will be delivered within 6 months from the meeting approving the Terms of Reference

Members

  • The first Chair shall be Ian Glew

  • Membership is voluntary

  • Membership shall between 10 and 30 people

  • Membership should be drawn from

    • The villages and rural area surrounding Peterborough

    • Representatives from PCC and other statutory bodies

    • Parish Councils

    • Ward Councillors (village & rural)

    • Rural businesses

    • Land owners

    • Schools

    • Police

    • Religious bodies

    • Conservation bodies

    • Environmental bodies

    • GPP representatives

Operation

  • The working party may sub divide into related interest groups

  • Members may participate in various sub groups

  • Communications shall be primarily electronic
