Elected members
The elected members of Peterborough Council have a vital community leadership role to play in the delivery of our vision of a bigger and better Peterborough. Their voice is the democratic expression of the views of our communities and as such must be central to our thinking as to how we develop services that meet the needs of the people of Peterborough.
At least two elected members sit on each of the GPP partnerships. In addition the Leader of the Council sits on the GPP Executive.
Elected members also have a valuable role in scrutinising the performance management of the Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement. They can offer insights into whether our collective efforts are really making a difference to the people in their communities and can often provide a better understanding of the realities of local life than rafts of official statistics.
From April 2009 onwards, the GPP will be preparing a six monthly report that will be sent to all members to keep them informed of progress with the Sustainable Community Strategy. The GPP also reports regularly on its work to the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.
