Voluntary and Community sector election to the GPP board 2007Shouldn’t the voluntary sector have a stronger voice in how Peterborough’s plans for the future are developed and delivered? Well this is your chance to get involved! The Greater Peterborough Partnership’s voluntary and community sector reference group provides a forum for discussion and input to the development of Peterborough’s ambitious plans to be a much bigger and better city by improving health, strengthening communities and delivering better outcomes for children and young people.
Lindsey Burrows-McGill Chief Executive of Bridgegate Drug Advice Service and chair of the group said: “The group monitors the performance of all the partner organisations including the Council, Primary Care Trust, Community Safety Partnership to ensure that the voluntary and community sector voice is not just heard, but also recognised.
“We meet once a quarter to add our voice to the development of the plans for the future of Peterborough and to review reports on how we are as a city are delivering these plans.”
The group has selecting four new members to join the main board of the GPP. These are Ed Murphy from Gladstone Connect, Sandie Burns from DIAL, John Dewis from Age Concern and a representative from Greater Dogsthorpe Partnership.
Lindsey added: “It is important that we have a voice as the sector at this board level, as we are involved in so much of the work across the different services.”
Members the voluntary and community sector now make up a third of the total board.
The VCS reference group meets quarterly and is open to all members of the voluntary and community sector. The next meetings are on 21 August and 20 November and are held at ASBAH, 42 Park Road.
