Peterborough’s Sustainable Community Strategy and Local Area Agreement (LAA)

Peterborough's Sustainable Community Strategy sets out the overarching vision and priorities for the development of our city and its surrounding rural areas.

The Local Area Agreement is the three year action plan for the delivery of outcomes and targets that will support the long term aspirations of the Sustainable Community Strategy. The agreement represents the work of all the partners whether public, private, voluntary, community or faith sector. As such it is a genuine partnership document, representing our collective work plan and recognised that no one partner can deliver our ambitious agenda. The GPP acts as the governing body for the development and performance management of both documents. Performance management reports on the Local Area Agreement are produced quarterly and assessed by the relevant thematic partnership before discussion at the GPP Board itself. For details of performance management arrangements click here Performance management of the LAA

The first Local Area Agreement for Peterborough runs from 2005 - 2008. The partnerships are currently in the process of negotiating the new Local Area Agreement for 2008 - 2011. For more information it is worth reading the GPP summary of 'Negotiating New LAAs.' This explains the negotiation process between the GPP, Local Authority, local Government and central Government.

Local and central Government priorities are listed in the National Indicator Set.
