£1.5 million for young people in Peterborough
The government has today (17 March 2010) announced a further £1.5 million investment in jobs for young people in Peterborough. This is Peterborough’s second successful bid to the Future Jobs Fund and will create a further 238 jobs for unemployed young people in the city. The announcement comes just days after the 100th young person started work through the first Future Jobs Fund programme, announced last year.

Dual celebrations with Festival of Festival and Jack Hunt’s 40th Anniversary!
The Festival of Festival 2010 calendar of events will be launched on Wednesday 17 March by Cllr Irene Walsh, the Mayor of Peterborough. This year’s launch will be extra special as the festivities will be combined with a Bhangra night to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Jack Hunt School.

Peterborough celebrates its 100th Future Jobs Fund employee
The Peterborough Future Jobs Fund has now employed its 100th young person. The Government’s Future Jobs Fund, has led to the creation of 167 jobs for young people in our city. The scheme has been a resounding success, with over 20 public and voluntary sector organisations coming together to create jobs for young people who have been out of employment between 26 and 50 weeks.

Launch of Peterborough's Back to Business Club website
Peterborough's growing Back to Business Club has now launched its own website. The website, created by Back to Business Club member Iain Shanks, contains information on the Club, future events, links to the Back to Business blog and also an array of useful links to help Peterborough's professionals in their quest to return back to full time employment.

Praise for Peterborough Partnership
The partners within the Greater Peterborough Partnership (GPP) have jointly welcomed today’s (9 December 2009), publication by the Audit Commission of the first ever Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA) for Peterborough, based on the collective assessment of six independent inspectorates.
The report presents a balanced and generally positive assessment of how local organisations and service-providers are doing on the issues that matter most in Peterborough, highlighting key areas of success such as recycling and also identifying those areas where performance needs to be improved, such as crime.

Grants between £100 and £2,000 are being offered to help voluntary groups promote community cohesion in Peterborough under a scheme launched by the Cohesion Board of the Greater Peterborough Partnership.

Anne Corder to advise Peterborough’s ‘Back to Business’ Club
Anne Corder of Anne Corder Recruitment will be joining Peterborough’s Back to Business Club on Thursday 24 September to advise the group on returning to the workplace. The Back to Business Club, launched on 3 September is a free networking group for managers and professionals made redundant as a result of the economic downturn. The group meets every Thursday at Peterborough College of Adult Education from 2pm – 5pm.

Future Jobs Fund to bring new jobs to Peterborough
Peterborough’s young people are set to gain from a new fund to help create employment opportunities across the city. The Greater Peterborough Partnership has successfully bid for funds to create up to 167 new jobs under the Government’s Future Jobs Fund and will be working with partners over coming weeks to finalise the exact details of each job.

GPP Launches 'Back to Business' Club
The Greater Peterborough Partnership is launching a weekly support and networking group for managers and professionals made redundant as a result of the economic downturn.
The first meeting of the Back To Business Club will be held on Thursday 3 September from 2-5pm at Peterborough College of Adult Education. Smart dress is preferred.

The Economic Participation Programme – Peterborough (formerly Investing in Communities) has announced over £800k available funding and would like to invite applications for this funding for both financial years 2009-10 and 2010-11.

Peterborough awarded £350,000 to tackle migration impact
Peterborough has been allocated £354,832 in extra government funds to support nine projects designed to tackle the impact of large-scale migration on local services in 2009/10.

GPP Annual Forum a Success
The GPP Annual Forum was held on Thursday 25th June 2009 at The Bull Hotel, Westgate, Peterborough. The theme this year focused on Peterborough working with our neighbours. The Forum provided the opportunity to network and identify areas for potential joint work.

This years Peterborough Green Festival will be held from Saturday 23rd May – Sunday 7th June with the theme of food - with activities on how to grow it, cook it and eat it.

GPP's Zero Waste Challenge
The GPP office took part in a two week Zero Waste Challeng, doing as much as possible to reduce the amount of rubbish produced in the office that would usually be sent to landfill.

Launch of the Festival of Festivals Calender 2009
Gillian Beasley, Chief Executive of Peterborough City Council and Chair of the GPP Executive launched Peterborough’s Festival of Festivals 2009 calendar of events on 20 January. The calendar highlights the diverse and vibrant celebrations that occur in our city throughout the year. The celebrations included in the calendar embrace a whole variety of celebrations and occasions, which focus on the environment, arts, community, culture, history, faith and many more.
