Voluntary and Community Sector

The partners within the GPP recognise the key role that voluntary and community groups play in delivering the aspirations of the Sustainable Community Strategy and the outcomes and targets in the Local Area Agreement.

To reflect that role, the GPP has allocated at least a third of the places on the GPP Board to representatives of the voluntary and community sectors. It has also established a Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Reference Group to ensure that the sector is fully involved in all aspects of the development, delivery and performance management of the Local Area Agreement.

The Group is currently chaired by David Copeland. Membership is open to any VCS group working in Peterborough. The Group elects four of its members annually to sit on the main GPP Board.

The Voluntary and Community Sector Reference Group

The Voluntary Sector Reference Group has been established within the framework of the Greater Peterborough Partnership, Peterborough’s local strategic partnership, to provide a forum through which voluntary and community sector groups can influence and contribute to the Community Strategy and the local area agreement.

It not only offers those groups a voice in determining the future development of Peterborough, but also a role in contributing to that success.

Its main aims are as follows:
