Rural Working Group

The aim of the rural working group is, as part of the community strategy, to identify the key issues to ensuring an improved quality of life in the rural as well as urban areas of Peterborough.

With funding from the Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs we now have resources in place specifically to help with this work.  It was decided that we should try to engage a wider audience and suggested that we should hold a series of roadshows to explain the background and objectives of this work.

Rural Working Group workshops - July 2007

Rural Working Group recently held a series of workshops to address the issues raised in its parish councils’ engagement meetings held last year. The workshops were attended by Parish Councilors, Peterborough City Council workers, Greater Peterborough Partnership representatives, various local specialists and the general public.

For more information on the workshops, please click on the workshops link at the top of the page.

Rural vision and strategy

The outcome of a series of rural engagement meetings hosted by the Rural Working Group in 2006 has resulted in a rural vision, which is to become part of the Community Strategy suite of documents.

The rural vision and strategy aims to:

  • highlight the rural issues and influence partner organisations
  • drive action – initiatives, pilots and targets through the Local Area Agreement
