Rural Working Group

The aim of the rural working group is, as part of the community strategy, to identify the key issues to ensuring an improved quality of life in the rural as well as urban areas of Peterborough.

With funding from the Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs we have undertaken a series of workshops to explain the background and objectives of this work and to deliver outcomes that will ensure the rural communities have a say in the development of Peterborough.

Rural vision and strategy

The outcome of a series of rural engagement meetings hosted by the Rural Working Group in 2006 and 2007 has resulted in a Rural Vision and Stratagy, which is to become part of the Community Strategy (2008/21).

The Rural Vision and Strategy aims to:

  • highlight the rural issues and influence partner organisations
  • drive action – initiatives, pilots and targets through the Local Area Agreement
