Profile - Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE

 

On 1 June 2007 Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE gave a keynote speech entitled ‘Peterborough as an Environment Capital’ to 160+ Greater Peterborough Partnership delegates at Peterborough Town Hall.

 

 

Jonathon Porritt is Founder Director of Forum for the Future and is a leading writer, broadcaster and commentator on sustainable development. Jonathon chairs the UK Sustainable Development Commission (SDC). In addition, he is on the Board of the South West Regional Development Agency, and is Co-Director of the Prince of Wales’s Business and Environment Programme.

He was formerly Director of Friends of the Earth (1984-90); co-chair of the Green Party (1980-83) of which he is still a member; chairman of UNED-UK (1993-96); and chairman of Sustainability South West. His most recent book is 'Capitalism – as if the World Matters'. Jonathon received a CBE in January 2000 for services to environmental protection.
