Culture, Leisure and Tourism

The purpose of the Culture, Leisure and Tourism Partnership is to work in partnership in order to help Peterborough develop as a place in which people want to live, work, study or visit because of its quality of life. Our mission is to transform Greater Peterborough into an ambitious, prosperous, exciting environment city: the centre of a thriving community of villages and market towns.
Peterborough has some excellent cultural and visitor services but delivered mostly from ageing cultural facilities, which need to be improved and increased to meet the needs of a bigger and better city.

Our tourist information service has won the regional award for excellence. Our sports development team has won the regional award for local authority service to sport. The City Centre Framework has provision of new cultural facilities as one of its top six priorities and the partnership is actively working to providing a range of excellent culture and leisure activities from excellent facilities.

In support of the community strategy the partnership’s current priorities are

  • Enabling access for all to culture and recreation activities
  • Ensuring that culture and recreation plays a key role in regeneration
  • Working in partnership to ensure best possible provision of cultural opportunities
  • Engaging with local communities to increase participation
  • Promoting healthier lifestyles and enabling the development of new skills through learning opportunities
  • Protecting and exploiting the City’s natural and built environment

The Chair of the Culture, Leisure and Tourism Partnership is Julian Stanley.
