Peterborough’s Community
Strategy 2005
Peterborough’s Community Strategy was formally adopted
by Peterborough City Council in December 2004.
The strategy sets out a vision for a bigger and better Peterborough and
outlines the plan for the future of our city and the surrounding villages
and rural areas. It reflects both the agenda for growth and the clear
desire to ensure that Peterborough grows the right way, so that an expanding
population leads to genuine improvements in key areas. It recognises that
if we are to create a bigger and better Peterborough, then we will have
to deal quickly and effectively with the pressing issues of today as well
as the plans for tomorrow.
Growth will also mean change, not only in buildings and infrastructure
but also in our communities.
We need to make sure that we continue to have stability and social cohesion
and that growth leads to a cleaner and greener city.
The Community Strategy has been put together by the Greater Peterborough
Partnership, basing their work on the views of the people of Peterborough.
It is the plan that sets the direction for all those involved in the development
of Peterborough: whether they are public, private, voluntary, faith, social
or community organisations.
Just as importantly it is a plan for every individual in Peterborough.
We can all play our part in making it succeed The strategy sets out a
vision for It is the plan for the future of our city, villages and rural
areas and sets out an ambitious programme of sustainable growth, designed
to bring lasting improvements in the quality of life of all Peterborough’s
people and communities.
